You Only Live Once- An Open Letter

This is an open letter for Alara from You Only Live Once: One for Passion Two for Love Three for Friendship, by Stuti Changle.

Dear Alara,

I’d be lying if I say I’ve never wanted to run away from home. I never knew that a place like Goa, where all youngsters these days love to go, could have stories like that of Ricky and Elisha hidden in its beauty. When you said, “Goa isn’t a place, it’s a vibe”, I wanted to feel it so bad. Your story from Czech to Goa in search of a missing piece of your life was beautiful. But so was Aarav and so were his ways of life.

When you finally found the truth about your mother, and gave up all hopes in life, I swear I gave up all hopes from the book. But knowing that there were still a few pages left, I couldn’t keep it down. I couldn’t see you lose all those hopes and dreams that you brought with you so far!

Tell Aarav that I loved his jokes. And I’m waiting to see the headlines, “INSENSITIVE COMIC OFFENDS ORPHANS” in the newspaper someday. And tell Rickey uncle that whenever I visit Goa, I’ll make sure to spend my evenings at Ricky’s Shack, looking forward to hear from his new performers. You guys are the ones who’ll keep Elisha alive forever and ever.

‘You Only Live Once’ is a story for every person who lives in our heart but far away from the living world. So, thank you for believing in dreams. Thank you for following your passion. Thank you for not giving up on love. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story. Most of all, thank you for explaining to the world the meaning of the phrase “bleeding dreams”.

Yours truly.
