Not Your Ordinary Coraline Theory!

Image
Patterns are what make the world a stage for observers and critical thinkers. One such pattern or what now is called a trope is the- 'Yellow Raincoat Trope'.  No, this article isn't about all the characters in yellow raincoats and how creepy they are.  Rather, this is about that one character that caught our train of thought  that took us to the 'Other World' with Wybie sitting in its second compartment.  Yes, it is none other than Coraline that I'm talking about! We've all read endless theories about Coraline and her yellow raincoat. But today I have something, another theory from the Buttoned World, that I came up with pretty recently... Coraline (2009) is a stop-motion animated dark fantasy based on Neil Gaiman’s 2002 graphic novel of the same name. With Miss Spink who stuffed their dead dogs to her lover, Miss Forcible who wore too less for the other world show, it is too dark an animated movie for kids. Many theories ...

Keeping up with the Lingos?

As I sat scrolling through my Reddit feed, there's one thing that I realised. 'BILINGUALISM IS THE NEW BLACK' Yes, you read that right. Being bilingual is a matter of pride these days. Why? It is because a second language adds to your skills, achievement and even your CV! It not only helps one understand two languages but also two different cultures. Most schools these days have a practice of teaching foreign language as a subject. But most non-resident parents have a tough time getting their child interested in their native language. This article will be a guide for all those NRI parents who want their children to learn Hindi or any other native language with pride and interest.  Living in India, a child is exposed to at least two languages right from birth. I, myself have been exposed to 3! (English, Hindi, Punjabi) The same goes for everyone because 'Conversation is the key'. Catching up to anything becomes easier through conversation. If ...

The Buzzy Tale of Thachampara...

Image
(work of fiction) In Thachampara, a small village in Kerala, Shobha didi is known for her fearlessness when it came to buzzy matters. Let's see what happens when Byju, a boy from the villages accompanies her to work on one such day. 13 years old Byju had seen enough videos to know that the situation he was in required him to be brave.  No, he did not have to jump off a cliff to avoid being eaten by a panther. Rather, the threat here was the ‘Bees’. He stood in front of what looked like a shed in the backyard of Mr. Pillai’s house. Mr. Pillai was the head of the Thachampara village and had called for Shobha didi when he noticed a bee hive under the floor of his shed. Shobha didi was an expert in this field and could take care of these bees easily. She was a professional beekeeper and was fond of Byju, and his curiosity. He would often ask her to let him accompany her, to which she had finally agreed. Shobha didi let him tag along to her work excursion as an apprentice. B...

That's a Scheme!

There are some patterns in life that are too conspicuous to overlook. This article is about one such pattern. ORANGE and TEAL Just like the "enemies to lovers" trope, the relationship of these colours is that of arch nemesis in the colour spectrum and yet they complement each other well. It gives a sense of comfort and looks inviting at the same time. The teal-and-orange look, like any color effect in history, has its challenges. It is easy to understand that it's success is based on the colour theory. The right warm oranges combined with teal add vibrancy to anything, immediately causing visual disruption. Be it Quantum Robot from the show- Shinchan or Platipus Perry from Phineas and Ferb, this colour combo is a go-to scheme. This article uncovers the reason behind it. But first, let's see the meaning of the concerned colours. Orange It is a youthful and energetic colour that symbolises emotion and enthusiasm. While being a stimulus for the br...

One and One make Eleven

From giving 11 rupees for good omen to completing shitty assignments at the 11th hour, the number 11 has been around for good and bad for a very long time. Our friend 11 is considered to be a special number in numerology. Hey it's 11:11! Hurry, make a wish!! The day I turned 21, I sat thinking about life as a whole when I got a call from a friend. Everyone has a friend who is all about astrology and all kinds of stuff. Yeah, it was their call. That’s what got me all interested in numerology and energy of numbers. She told me to calculate my number and she’d tell me about my personality.  (Numerology Is the belief in the divine or mystical relationship between a number and coinciding events with astrological approach.) Intrigued, I did what I was told. I added all the digits of the date, month and year of my birthday (2+7+2000) and I got the number 11!  Here's what we know about the number.. 11 is a rep-digit which simply means that it is a p...

The Flatshare

Image
"Tiffy and Leon share a flat Tiffy and Leon share a bed Tiffy and Leon have never met…" And this got me into reading it, your honor! You gotta believe me, I'm innocent! Hey people! Today I'm here to write about a book that I finished reading this morning. Absolutely delightful!  'The Flatshare' is a romance novel written by Beth O'Leary and it's so vanilla, I cried. This is a story about a girl, Tiffy, who needs to find a cheap apartment really fast. She finds an ad that is advertising this weird concept of a flatshare, where she'll essentially be sharing this apartment with a stranger that she has never met before; and that she'll never meet for as long as she stays in the apartment. Now, how's that gonna work is the real question. The stranger- Leon, is a palliative care nurse at an hospice and works only the night shifts. So he'll be occupying the apartment during the day, while Tiffy will occupy the apartment during nigh...
